With the house already extended and the teenagers growing their social life, our lovely family were looking for some extra space in which to rest and play. With a redundant area at the back of the garden, they decided to maximise this space and get BGR to build a games room!
After the old shed was removed by our clients, our team then lifted the existing paving slabs and installed ground screws here before breaking up the subbase and installing the remaining screws through and into the soil.
On this particular build, as the external dimension was over 17.5sqm, the room had to be compliant with Building Control Regulations. To achieve this, we clad the right wall in Sand Yellow Cedral Cement Board as it was close to a boundary where a >1m gap could not be reached.
With the roof sloping front to back, we fixed on the standard anthracite grey guttering system to the back and added a water butt.
A 2.3m anthracite grey sliding door let’s in lots of natural light and to finish the build, we laid 12mm laminate floor and 94mm bullnose skirting, painted the room with a basic white/wash mist coat and gave the room a clean before leaving our clients to enjoy their fabulous new build. We wish them many happy hours together – the room looks like a lot of fun!
