The Process
We make our process of designing and building your bespoke garden room as seamless as possible
With that in mind, we’ve broken down the BGR process into four simple stages: enquiry, details, build, and the end!
We explain how each stage works below.
1) Enquiry
The first stage is the initial enquiry.
The best way to start your BGR journey is by giving our friendly team a call, as all we need is a 10-minute chat to be able to tailor an estimate to your needs.
The team can discuss what you require – whether it be a garden room, annexe, extension, or some general building/electrical work – then get an idea of the scale of the project, the level of finish, and a few other details.
If a call is not convenient, that is no matter. Drop us an email or fill out the enquiry form with details of your project and we will get back to you from there.
Once we have these initial details, we can provide you with a fairly detailed estimate.
2) The Details
Once you have your estimate, we always recommend a visit to our showroom.
This way, you can see the quality of our work, understand how everything is constructed, and have a good conversation with our sales director, Matt, who can help you work out exactly what you need and the best use of the space.
From here, Matt will organise for one of the engineers to pop over to your home for a site visit. This helps us to finalise any last details of the quote.
The team are looking for for access, storage, electrics, foundations and to discuss the logistics of the project. The guys can also help answer any questions you may have about the design of your room and positioning… they built one or two over the years!
Following the site visit, we can finalise a quote with all details and covering all bases. Once you are happy with this, we will draw up a contract. Once this is signed, a date is set and all materials are ordered – very exciting!
3) The Build
We always set up a WhatsApp group with the team, clients, and project manager, so everyone can keep in touch during the build.
The first day is dedicated to materials delivery. The team will get a call around midday and head over to unload materials and set up site.
The construction begins on day two. It is advised you are available at the start of day two to mark out the exact location of the build with the team leader. Once this is agreed, foundations are installed and floor construction starts. You’ll be needed again at the end of day three to finalise the position of doors and windows, in case anything has changed since the contract was drawn up.
After this, the guys will crack on with the build and the next week will be first fix electrics. On this day, the electricians will mark out with you where you want all electrics, sockets, lights, heater, and fuse board. This is an exciting day!
Once this is done, the team finishes the build, the plasterer comes in, and the electricians connect power into the house. The finishing touches are then added to the room, and before you know it, you’ve got a beautiful garden room!
A standard garden room will take around two weeks to construct, then another week to lay the floor, paint, and final fix electrics – but this just a guide.
4) The End
Once the build is complete, we let the room settle for a week or two, and if there are any snags, the team will come and rectify. The build is complete once this is completed.
We always leave the WhatsApp group open, so if you ever have any questions, we are easy to contact.
