We began this project as a garden room for a lovely couple who wanted some extra space for their family to chill out and get away from the stresses of daily life.
As we began constructing the room, the conversation moved onto the dilapidated conservatory and their wish to extend the house.
As we progressed with the room build, with beautiful bifold doors being installed and the larch cladding bringing it to life, we discussed the extension project, set a date, and were back a couple of months later to start project 2.0.
We knocked down the existing conservatory, reinforced the footings, and constructed a timber-framed extension – fully insulated with 6” Celotex for year-round use.
With a large skylight, French doors, and some full-length windows, our customers’ fears it may be too dark were quickly overcome and the room was flooded with light.
As we progressed and knocked through, our customer then decided to go ahead and renovate the whole ground floor. After adding extra downlights and sockets throughout and plastering the extension, we renovated the fireplace and laid new flooring throughout.
Finally, we landscaped the rear garden, adding a large new sandstone patio and beautiful raised bed, creating an idyllic space for the family to enjoy.
What can I say? Firstly, you'll never meet such a lovely bunch of guys. If you're looking for an honest, reliable and professional team to build your dream garden room or extension, then BGR should be your first choice. My initial contact with Matt made what seemed like the impossible (small garden issue!) a reality. The site visit with Andy filled me with even more confidence, and then when Sam, Paul and Louie arrived on site, I just knew we'd made the right choice.
The speed of the build is incredible. Paul kept us informed throughout, explaining what he planned to achieve each day (and how many teas he'd like!), and Sam coordinated things so well and never got frustrated with my endless questions! He also landscaped my garden in the hottest weather ever!
The outcome? A fantastic garden room which can be used in all seasons and is perfect as a hideaway from the kids (it's far too nice to let them use it!), an office, and an entertaining space. We were so thrilled that I said if only we could pick the garden room up and put it on my house in place of my conservatory... a few months later that's exactly what we did! The transformation is incredible and we'll be forever grateful for everything BGR have done for us. I'm just trying to find my next project for them... did someone say loft conversion?!
