Wow! What a challenge this was for several of our team members. As well as the physical elements of this build this also made them “mentally tired” to quote Tom. With so many aspects of this conversion to replace, update and build, our team had their work cut out for them to get the project completed within the agreed timescales.
Our team started first with clearing the site, securing the roof, removing the existing single windowpane before work then began on the very uneven floor, bringing it up level with the external floor so that there was no step into the room. This stage took some thought as our client is tall and we needed to ensure that there was still enough head space when he was inside the new room.
The existing doorway was bricked up and a new one created further along the side wall, to make room for the new anthracite grey UPVC French doors. The old window was replaced with a new anthracite grey UPVC double opening window to let in more natural light.
The EDPM roof was extended to create a canopy space to the left of the build and we then made good the fencing and floor in this area. The build was rendered externally and plastered inside once first fix electrics and insulation were in place.
Finally, once plastered, we laid a laminate floor with bullnose skirting and second fix electrics completed. On this build, our clients chose to paint the room themselves so, once we had removed the rubbish and cleaned the room, we left them to enjoy their new garage conversion, and we wish them many fun, family times in it.
