With a difficult, uneven corner and an old, unloved summer house in the back corner of the garden, our client contacted us to see whether we could offer any sleek, modern and practical alternatives.
Due to the corner of the garden forming a point and not being at 90 degrees, our client also wanted the room to look like it was tucked neatly in and we knew that the room would be bespoke. To make it easy on the eye, we built the room with 5 walls as a pentagon, only three of which are visible to give an asymmetrical feel and to get as close to the boundary as we could.
Our friends at Leveltop Services removed the existing summer house and brought the ground up level, ready for Dean and Tom to begin installing the ground screw foundations.
Once the shell was complete, the Firestone rubbercover EPDM roof was on, insulation in place and doors installed, the team built a stud wall complete with pocket doors that lead to a backroom storage area. The whole garden room was then finished, as standard; professionally plastered, down lights, electric sockets, laminate flooring and finally painted in our clients’ choice of colour.
As an extra, Tom built the internal storage shelving so that the room was ready to use as soon as we had completed the build. The garden was finished by our talented friends at MK Renovations to top the whole project off perfectly.
What an amazing use of an awkward corner. Not only have our clients got a great office space in which to work and admire the garden but the storage room behind it serves its purpose well. This build really demonstrates the beauty of custom made, bespoke garden rooms.
